Choosing the right roofline for your home or project can be a difficult decision, so here at FasciaExpert.co.uk we have put together a simple guide to ensure that you choose the right products for your project.
When it comes to choosing fascia boards there are 2 products that are commonly used. These include full Replacement Fascias boards and Cap Over Fascia boards, or Reveal liners as commonly known. The main differences and applications are explained below.
Full replacement fascias board are commonly between 16mm and 20mm thick and are available in Square, Ogee, Bullnose or Flat fascia styles.
New builds and extensions almost always require the purchase of full replacement fascia boards which are thick enough to nail directly into the timber joists of the roof.
When using full replacement fascias boards for refurbishment projects, this requires all existing old timber fascias (or old uPVC fascias), soffits and bargeboards to be fully removed.
We offer fascia boards in 14 different colours and there are many benefits of installing uPVC fascias, these include a comprehensive guarantee against rotting, discolouring, cracking and are maintenance free.
9mm Cap Over fascia boards are designed to be thin enough to use to cover over existing timber fascias that are in good sound condition. This application is the most straight forward available and is a cheaper alternative to a full roofline replacement.
This method involves removing all the guttering and downpipes and overlaying the existing wooden timber with the new uPVC fascia boards.
You should only cap over your existing wooden timber fascias if the wood is in good condition. We would suggest checking the condition of your wood before you make a decision on which installation to choose for your project.
